Interclypse held our first Maryland Adopt-A-Highway clean-up this past weekend. The group really gained an appreciation for what it takes to keep our state clean. We were surprised by the sheer amount of debris totaling 40 bags. The group found three license plates and empty drink containers seemed to be the majority of the debris with water bottles leading the pack. Other items included a pair of matching shoes and lots of single work gloves.
A few lessons learned to share with others. Sunscreen, leave a drink car at the turnaround point, bring something like a backpack to carry the empty trash bags, and timebox your group to around three hours (we did four and a half hours and the entire group was wiped out for the remainder of the day).
